With a smile on their faces many young people left the Vienna City Hall on Sunday evening. One day after the Life Ball, Youth Against AIDS organized the LIFE BALL NEXT GENERATION for the first time on June 11, together with LIFE +, specifically for 16- to 18-year-olds. This event was for teens who pre-occupied with sexual education and
HIV / Aids, and thencelebrated as a reward for one day with international DJs, stars and influencers.
800 pupils were already informed by the workshops in the run-up to the LIFE BALL NEXT GENERATION in Austria. As a thank you, top-class bands and DJs like Tagtraeumer, Stereoact and Danny Avila played for the teenagers.
“With our appearance at the LIFE BALL NEXT GENERATION we wanted to give something back to the young people who spend a lot of time on a voluntary basis. There is nothing more important than education on all important topics, “said Thomas Schneider, singer of the band Tagtraeumer.
Already at the pre-party and the big Life Ball on Saturday, Youh Against AIDS was invited and experienced the biggest charity event in Europe in favor of HIV-infected and AIDS-afflicted people up close. This year’s Life Ball was themed “Recognize the danger” and conveyed the theme “Know your status” colorfully and impressively in and around the Vienna City Hall.
“The LIFE BALL NEXT GENERATION was a thank you to all the dedicated young people who helped us to educate Austria. Together with LIFE +, we made the experience of the Life Ball for young people come alive,” said Daniel Nagel, Chairman of the Board of Youth Against AIDS.
On Saturday, Youth Against AIDS celebrated a successful premiere in Switzerland together with Opel Suisse SA and Levi Strauss & Co. At the Zurich Pride Festival on June 10, 2017, the volunteer initiative was the first time a partner of a major event in Switzerland.
Exclusively for the Zurich Pride Opel had specifically branded for Youth Against AIDS three Opel Adam. The cars accompanied the young people at the demonstration on Saturday and carried the message of the association in large letters throughout Switzerland: Do what you want. Do it with love, respect and condoms.
Youth Against AIDS was supported by many volunteers of the Youth Parliament of the Canton of Zurich. The young Enlighteners distributed hundreds of condoms and disposable tattoos. These were particularly popular, so that the important message “Do what you want” was to see on countless upper arms, legs and cleavage of the people in the city center of Zurich.
Particularly pleasing was the new participant record of the demonstration procession. More than 14,000 participants and 5,000 spectators demonstrated colorfully and vocally for a society in which sexuality is never a reason for exclusion, fear and stigma.
“We are proud that we were able to reach so many people at our first event in Switzerland. In the future, we want to consolidate our values throughout Switzerland, “said Daniel Nagel, Chairman of the Board of Youth Against AIDS.
In the future, Youth Against AIDS will establish itself as the point of contact for the sexual education of young people in Austria and Switzerland. For this purpose, regional groups are founded and workshops are offered at schools across the country. So the association builds on the successful work in Germany and reaches as many young people as possible with its offers.
